Ronald "Boobie" McIntyre has always felt bad about his mandated child support payments. Now he feels even worse.

The majority of fathers across the country paying child support do indeed strive to make timely and recurring payments. A great many, don't, however. A select few, such as McIntyre, will even risk bodily injury to avoid their support obligations.

The following scene played out in Chicago last Tuesday as police officers sought to arrest McIntyre for chronic non-payment of the support owed his children. Rather than cooperate, McIntyre, who owes nearly $6,000, exercised another strategy.

He ran. And then he jumped. And now, literally, he's paying in more than one way.

Police tracked McIntrye to an apartment complex near his home, where they questioned a woman who told them that, while McIntyre had been inside her dwelling, he had simply disappeared. While they were searching the apartment, a child drew their attention to an open window.

Peering downward, they found their man. Rather than face his child support duties, McIntrye had jumped out the window and landed on concrete covered by artificial turf - from three floors up.

The officers rushed down to street level to apprehend McIntyre, but there was really no hurry; he had broken both legs. McIntyre was transported to a local hospital without further incident.

McIntyre's case, while atypical, highlights the support duties owed children and the extreme lengths that some people will go to in order to escape required payments. In Missouri, an experienced family law attorney can answer questions or concerns relating to child support obligations, modifications and related matters.
